Portly

I had a bit of a lazy day today but had to go over to my Flight Attendant friend's for dinner. I always jump at the chance for free food so it was a nice end to my day,but on the way there I stopped at the Zoo to drop off some sign up sheets I made up and when I went to say hello to Jacko, the Spider Monkey, he actually put out his tail for me. His tail is prehensile, meaning it can grip as well as a hand - which they use to swing on branches, etc. - and I had seen him do that once before for a girl that works there. At that point I thought 'wow, how cool is that?' because he always comes to say hello (the monkey speak version) but I hadn't had the tail thing before. But today I got the tail too. I hesitated at first because I know the Keepers do not want anyone touching the animals since it's so easy to pass on germs, etc. to them, but he put it out again and again until I gave in and let him grab my arm because I had long sleeves on anyways. He sure has a strong little tail! It was truly a wonderful experience for me. To top the evening off it was a delicious meal and my friend cleaned out her freezer so I am set for a few weeks. As for the 'portly' it's what she called her horse & that I too am 'portly' not 'fat'. I have to agree 'portly' is a much more interesting word, and not as negative as the word 'fat'. But, fat or portly, I'm still fat and apparently stubborn as all get out.
